In our "Journey Through Time" Workshop, children aged 6-12 will embark on a fascinating adventure through art, science, and storytelling. We will start with a group meet and greet, followed by an engaging tour of Nika Neelova's exhibition "Beghost". During the tour, children will explore Neelova's sculptures and fossils, discussing the materials used, such as glass, clay, and fossilised shark teeth, and their significance. They will learn about the recycling of materials and the continuous transformation in nature, all woven into a child-friendly story about ancient marine life, the transformation of landscapes over millions of years, and the journey of fossils.
The hands-on activities will learn how real fossils are formed and create their own fossil imprints using air-dry clay. Inspired by the jellyfish sculptures in the exhibition, children will also craft glowing jellyfish lanterns.
In the creative writing segment, each child will write and illustrate a postcard from the ancient ocean to the present day, describing what they see, feel, and imagine about the ancient sea and its creatures.
The workshop will conclude with children sharing their postcards and fossil creations with the group, summarising key learnings, and taking home their fossil creations, jellyfish lanterns, and postcards.
