Dreamscape Drawing

  • Bayt Al Mamzar 26 Street Dubai, Dubai United Arab Emirates (map)

Artful Minds is excited to present "Dreamscape Drawing," a special kids' art workshop inspired by the exhibition "Surreal" curated by Alisa Bagdonaite. This engaging workshop invites children between  6 to12 years old to explore the imaginative and dream-like world of surrealist animation, a genre that once defied Soviet state norms and brought the wider world into the hearts of its viewers.

The workshop stars with a brief, kid-friendly discussion on surrealist art and its historical context while viewing selected clips from surreal animations to inspire creativity. Kids will create their own surreal landscapes, combining real-world elements with imaginative, dream-like imagery guided by experienced art instructors to help kids bring their visions to life.

Dreamscape Drawing offers a fun and educational experience that also contributes to the mental well-being of children. By immersing themselves in the imaginative world of surrealism, children will not only explore a fascinating art form but also develop emotional resilience. This workshop enhances creativity and imagination by encouraging children to think outside the box, enhancing their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Furthermore, the workshop provides a safe space for kids to express their emotions and thoughts, contributing to emotional well-being. Channeling their emotions, whether positive or negative, arising from real-life events or dreams, offers several benefits. Firstly, it allows children to acknowledge and understand their feelings, fostering emotional intelligence and self-awareness. Secondly, by expressing and processing emotions, they can release pent-up tension and stress, promoting mental and physical relaxation. Lastly, drawing requires focus and patience, helping children develop these important skills including mindfulness and relaxation- the act of drawing can be meditative, helping kids relax and practice mindfulness, reducing stress and anxiety.

This workshop is now fully booked. Please subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on all our upcoming events.
